## From the vendor

ConnectWise Managed EDR, sold until May 2026 as ConnectWise MDR, is a managed detection and response service from ConnectWise for managed service providers protecting their clients' endpoints. Rather than shipping its own endpoint agent, it runs on top of a third-party EDR platform the MSP already owns or licenses through ConnectWise: Bitdefender GravityZone, Microsoft Defender for Business, or SentinelOne. ConnectWise's own security operations centre then monitors that telemetry around the clock, with a published service level of verified incidents addressed within 15 minutes and an average mean time to response of 8 minutes. Analysts triage and contain confirmed threats rather than passing every alert back to the MSP, and an optional incident response retainer adds root cause analysis and post-incident recovery on top of the core monitoring. ConnectWise Managed EDR suits MSPs already standardised on ConnectWise PSA and RMM, since the service ties into that ticketing and billing workflow and shows up alongside those tools in a single multi-tenant dashboard. It also suits MSPs that have already picked Bitdefender, Microsoft Defender for Business or SentinelOne as their endpoint agent and want a SOC layered on top rather than a full agent replacement. It is less suited to an MSP that wants one vendor to supply both the endpoint agent and the SOC, or one that needs a self-serve, published price to budget against before talking to sales. Pricing is not published. ConnectWise sells Managed EDR by quote through its partner channel, and there is no dedicated pricing page on the vendor site (checked September 2026). There is no self-serve free trial for the service itself, only vendor-run demos. The service also includes integrated vulnerability management and SaaS security for Microsoft 365 as part of the same dashboard. ConnectWise is based in Tampa, Florida, and was founded in 1982, long before this security line existed, so MSPs should confirm current SLA wording, which of the three EDR platforms are actually included in the quote, and whether the incident response retainer is separate or bundled before signing.

## Our take

ConnectWise Managed EDR is worth shortlisting mainly if you are already running ConnectWise PSA and RMM, or you have already standardised on Bitdefender, Microsoft Defender for Business or SentinelOne and want a SOC layered over that agent rather than a full rip-and-replace. Compare it against Huntress and Blackpoint Cyber, which also run over third-party or lightweight agents with a similar MSP-first sales model, and against Sophos MDR or Arctic Wolf if you would rather one vendor own both the endpoint agent and the SOC. Because pricing is quote-only, get the per-endpoint number in writing, confirm which of the three supported EDR platforms is actually included at that price, and ask directly whether the incident response retainer is bundled or a separate line item.

## FAQ

### How much does ConnectWise Managed EDR cost?

ConnectWise Managed EDR does not publish a list price. No MSP price reports have been approved yet.

### Does ConnectWise Managed EDR offer a free trial?

ConnectWise Managed EDR does not offer a free trial. There is no free version.

### What does ConnectWise Managed EDR integrate with?

ConnectWise Managed EDR lists integrations with Bitdefender GravityZone, Microsoft Defender for Business, SentinelOne, ConnectWise PSA, ConnectWise RMM and ConnectWise Automate.

### Is ConnectWise Managed EDR cloud or on-premises?

ConnectWise Managed EDR is cloud-hosted; there is no on-premises version.

### Is ConnectWise Managed EDR the same product as the former ConnectWise MDR?

Yes. ConnectWise MDR was renamed to ConnectWise Managed EDR in May 2026. ConnectWise's own announcement describes this as a repositioning to emphasise focused endpoint detection and response rather than the broader definition MDR has taken on across the industry. The underlying service, running over Bitdefender, Microsoft Defender for Business or SentinelOne with a ConnectWise-run SOC, is the same product under the new name.

### How much does ConnectWise Managed EDR cost per endpoint?

ConnectWise does not publish a price for Managed EDR. It is sold by quote through ConnectWise's MSP partner channel, and there is no dedicated pricing page on the vendor site as of September 2026. MSPs need to contact ConnectWise sales or a ConnectWise partner to get a per-endpoint figure, and should confirm which of the supported EDR platforms is included at that price.

### Does ConnectWise Managed EDR include its own endpoint agent?

No. ConnectWise Managed EDR runs its SOC monitoring and response over a third-party endpoint agent that the MSP chooses: Bitdefender GravityZone, Microsoft Defender for Business, or SentinelOne EDR. It does not ship a separate ConnectWise-built agent, so an MSP already licensed on one of those three platforms can add the ConnectWise SOC layer on top rather than replacing the agent.

### Do I need ConnectWise PSA or RMM to use ConnectWise Managed EDR?

No, ConnectWise Managed EDR is not restricted to MSPs on the ConnectWise PSA and RMM stack, since it is built to run over Bitdefender, Microsoft Defender for Business or SentinelOne regardless of PSA. It does tie into ConnectWise PSA and RMM for ticketing, agent management and billing when an MSP already uses them, and ConnectWise markets that combination as its main integration advantage.

### Is there a free trial of ConnectWise Managed EDR?

No self-serve free trial is offered for ConnectWise Managed EDR. The vendor provides recorded and live demos of the service instead, including platform-specific demonstrations for Bitdefender, Microsoft Defender and SentinelOne configurations. Formal pricing is available only after contacting ConnectWise sales directly.
