Complain about a review

This is the process for someone who believes a review published on this site is defamatory, distinct from flagging a review for breaking our own rules (see how reviews work).

The process we follow

Reviewers are pseudonymous to us in the sense that we do not publish their identity, and we do not identify a reviewer to a complainant on request. Because of that, we follow the process set out in the Defamation (Operators of Websites) Regulations 2013: once we receive a complaint that identifies the review and explains why it is defamatory, we forward the notice to the person who posted it within 48 hours. If they do not respond, or respond but refuse to be identified, we remove the review within 48 hours of that point.

What to send

A link to the review, or enough detail to find it (the product and roughly when it was posted); the specific statement you say is defamatory and why; and your name and a contact address. Send this to [email protected].

What happens next

A dedicated complaint form that walks through this on-site is coming in a future update. Until then, email is the process: we will confirm receipt, forward the notice as described above, and tell you the outcome once the timeline above has run.
