Proofpoint Essentials is Proofpoint's email security product for small and mid-sized businesses, filtering phishing, malware and spam, with optional email continuity, archiving and a security awareness training add-on, built as a scaled-down version of Proofpoint's enterprise email security technology. It suits MSPs who want a recognised enterprise security brand behind their email offering without the cost or complexity of Proofpoint's full enterprise product line, and clients who have outgrown basic built-in mailbox filtering. Pricing is per user per month, quoted through a Proofpoint partner rather than published, usually sold and managed by an MSP on behalf of several client tenants from one partner console. It integrates with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace as mail platforms, and the partner console is built for multi-tenant management, so an MSP can apply consistent filtering policies and review threats across every client from a single login rather than per tenant.
