From the vendor

RustDesk is an open-source remote desktop and remote support tool from Purslane Tech, the Singapore company behind it, built for MSPs and IT teams who want unattended access and ad hoc support sessions without depending on a vendor's own cloud servers. The client and the basic RustDesk Server OSS are free to self-host, and an MSP can also connect through RustDesk's own public relay servers at no cost rather than running any infrastructure at all. What RustDesk sells, for a fee, is RustDesk Server Pro: a self-hosted server with a web console, two-factor authentication, an address book, audit logging, access control and a custom client generator for white-label branding.

RustDesk Server Pro is priced per login user with a cap on managed devices rather than per endpoint, published on RustDesk's own site: the Individual plan is $11.88 a month for one login user and 20 managed devices, and the Basic plan is $23.88 a month for 10 login users, 100 managed devices, OIDC single sign-on and LDAP, both billed annually with no monthly option (checked September 2026). Larger deployments pay a per-user and per-device add-on charge on top of the Basic plan, or contact RustDesk directly for a custom quote. There is no self-service free trial; RustDesk's own pricing FAQ tells buyers to contact it if they want one. The client and server run on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android, plus a browser-based web client, and RustDesk documents session recording, file transfer, multi-monitor sessions and scripted MSI deployment for managed rollouts.

RustDesk Server Pro supports OIDC single sign-on against Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, Google, GitHub and GitLab, and LDAP for on-premises directories, rather than integrating directly with a specific PSA or RMM. MSPs should confirm which plan's login-user and device caps match their actual technician count and endpoint count, since the caps rise sharply between the free, Individual and Basic tiers, and weigh the work of running and patching a self-hosted server against the convenience of a SaaS remote access tool before switching.

Our take

RustDesk suits an MSP that wants a self-hosted remote access tool it fully controls, or a solo technician happy to route sessions through RustDesk's own free relay servers rather than pay a SaaS vendor. It is a weaker fit for a shop that wants a polished, PSA-linked ticketing-to-session workflow out of the box, since RustDesk has no documented PSA or RMM integration, unlike ScreenConnect or TeamViewer. Before buying RustDesk Server Pro, check the login-user and device caps on each tier against your actual technician count and endpoint count, and confirm you have the infrastructure and time to run a self-hosted server yourself.

Is RustDesk free to use?

RustDesk's client software and its basic RustDesk Server OSS are free and open source, and an MSP can connect through RustDesk's own public relay servers at no cost without running any server at all. The paid tier, RustDesk Server Pro, is only needed for a self-hosted server with a web console, single sign-on, audit logs and higher device limits, starting at $11.88 per login user a month billed annually (checked September 2026).

How is RustDesk Server Pro priced?

RustDesk Server Pro is priced per login user with a cap on managed devices, rather than per technician seat in the usual PSA sense. The Individual plan is $11.88 a month for one login user and 20 devices, and the Basic plan is $23.88 a month for 10 login users and 100 devices, both billed annually with no monthly billing option and no auto-renewal (checked September 2026).

Does RustDesk offer a free trial of Server Pro?

No, RustDesk does not list a self-service free trial for RustDesk Server Pro on its pricing page; its own pricing FAQ tells buyers to contact RustDesk directly to ask about one. MSPs who want to evaluate the paid features without committing can instead run the free RustDesk Server OSS, which covers a self-hosted server without the web console, single sign-on or higher device caps.

Does RustDesk integrate with a PSA or RMM?

RustDesk does not document a direct integration with a specific PSA or RMM platform. RustDesk Server Pro does support OIDC single sign-on against providers including Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, Google, GitHub and GitLab, plus LDAP for on-premises directories, which covers user login rather than ticketing or device sync. MSPs wanting a PSA-linked remote access workflow should check whether their PSA can launch RustDesk sessions by URL rather than expecting a native integration.

Who owns RustDesk?

RustDesk is developed and sold by Purslane Tech Pte. Ltd., a company based in Singapore, and the project was first released on GitHub in 2021. It has not been acquired by a larger vendor as of September 2026 and remains an independently run open-source project with a commercial self-hosted server built on top of it.
