From the vendor

Barracuda Managed XDR is a managed extended detection and response service from Barracuda Networks, built for MSPs and mid-market businesses that want a 24-hour security operations centre rather than software they staff themselves. It correlates telemetry from more than 40 integrated data sources across endpoint, email, network, cloud and identity, using AI and the MITRE ATT&CK framework to flag ransomware, account takeover and privilege escalation, and its SOC analysts investigate and respond with prescriptive remediation rather than leaving triage to the MSP's own technicians.

Barracuda prices Managed XDR per user per month, shown on Barracuda's pricing page as separate tiers for fewer than 50 users, more than 50 users, and organisations of any size, but the actual figure is not published in any of those tiers; every path leads to a custom quote or to Barracuda's MSP and reseller purchasing routes rather than a self-serve price (checked September 2026). Barracuda does not publish a free trial or a free version for Managed XDR. It works with third-party endpoint tools including SentinelOne, CrowdStrike, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Sophos Central and Bitdefender rather than requiring Barracuda's own agent, plus a wide range of network firewalls, Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, and it pushes alerts into ConnectWise, Autotask and ServiceNow for ticketing. The service traces back to Barracuda's 2021 acquisition of SKOUT Cybersecurity, an MSP-focused XDR and SOC provider, and briefly carried the name Barracuda SKOUT Managed XDR before settling on its current name. Barracuda Networks itself was founded in 2003 and is based in Campbell, California, and has been owned by KKR since 2022 following its purchase from Thoma Bravo.

An MSP evaluating Barracuda Managed XDR should get the actual per-user price for its own headcount before comparing it with a rival MDR service, since none of the published tiers state a number, and should confirm whether its existing endpoint agent (or a Barracuda-recommended one) is on the current supported list, since coverage depends on which third-party EDR is already deployed across a client base.

Our take

Barracuda Managed XDR is worth a look for an MSP that already runs a mix of third-party EDR tools across clients, since it works with SentinelOne, CrowdStrike, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Sophos and others rather than forcing a single agent, and it pushes tickets into ConnectWise or Autotask directly. The lack of any published price is the main thing to get past a sales call before comparing it against ConnectWise MDR or N-able Managed EDR, both of which serve the same MSP-SOC-outsourcing need. Ask specifically what the per-user quote covers at your endpoint count, whether onboarding an existing EDR estate is included, and what response times the SOC commits to in the contract rather than in marketing copy.

How much does Barracuda Managed XDR cost?

Barracuda Managed XDR is priced per user per month, but Barracuda does not publish the actual figure. Its pricing page shows three tiers, fewer than 50 users, more than 50 users, and any size company, each showing a dollar-sign placeholder rather than a number, and every tier leads to a custom quote or to Barracuda's MSP and reseller purchasing routes. An MSP needs to contact Barracuda or a reseller for a quote based on the actual user count being covered.

Does Barracuda Managed XDR include its own endpoint agent?

No, Barracuda Managed XDR does not require a Barracuda-built endpoint agent. It integrates with third-party endpoint detection and response tools already deployed, including SentinelOne, CrowdStrike, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Sophos Central, Bitdefender, ESET and Trend Micro, and its SOC works from the telemetry those agents produce. This suits an MSP that has already standardised on one of those EDR products across its client base.

Does Barracuda Managed XDR integrate with ConnectWise or Autotask?

Yes, Barracuda Managed XDR has a documented two-way ticketing integration with both ConnectWise and Autotask, alongside ServiceNow, so security alerts and their status can flow into an MSP's existing PSA rather than needing a separate console checked manually. This is aimed specifically at MSPs running a SOC service across many client tenants.

Is Barracuda Managed XDR the same product as SKOUT?

Barracuda Managed XDR grew out of Barracuda's 2021 acquisition of SKOUT Cybersecurity, an MSP-focused extended detection and response and SOC provider. The service briefly carried the name Barracuda SKOUT Managed XDR after the acquisition before being rebranded to its current name, Barracuda Managed XDR, with the underlying SOC team and technology continuing from SKOUT.

Who owns Barracuda Networks now?

Barracuda Networks has been owned by investment funds managed by KKR since 2022, when KKR completed its acquisition of Barracuda from Thoma Bravo, a software investment firm. Barracuda Networks itself was founded in 2003 and is headquartered in Campbell, California.
