No. Cove runs entirely from a cloud console, so there is no local hardware or virtual appliance to install, patch or replace at a client site. Servers, workstations and Microsoft 365 data all back up directly to N-able's cloud, which is the main way it differs from appliance-based backup products that keep a local copy on site as well as one in the cloud.

Yes. Cove integrates with N-central, N-able's RMM platform, so backup job status and failures show up alongside a client's other monitoring alerts rather than in a separate login. MSPs who are not already running N-central can still use Cove standalone, but the combined alerting is one of the reasons N-central users pick it over a competing backup product.

Cove supports image-based bare-metal recovery for servers, so a failed machine can be rebuilt from its backup rather than reinstalled and reconfigured from nothing. Restores can target Azure or the client's own hardware. MSPs should confirm bare-metal recovery support for their specific server operating systems and hypervisors before relying on it as the primary recovery plan for a critical server.

Microsoft 365 backup is billed per protected seat, on top of the usage-based cloud storage charge that applies to all data Cove stores, and the total is quoted through an N-able account manager rather than published. Because storage cost scales with data volume, MSPs should ask for a total monthly estimate against a specific client's actual mailbox and file sizes rather than a per-seat number alone.
